Cookie Policy

Exactly what we store on your device, why it is there, how long it lasts, and how to refuse or remove it.

Version 1.0 · Effective 1 February 2026 · Last updated 4 August 2026

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Related technologies — localStorage, sessionStorage and pixel tags — do a similar job. This policy covers all of them, and we use the word "cookie" to mean any of them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

2. Our approach

We keep this deliberately minimal. Nothing optional is stored on your device until you actively choose "Accept all" in the consent banner. Choosing "Reject optional" leaves the website completely functional — every review, every policy page and every link continues to work. We do not use cookie walls, we do not degrade the experience for readers who decline, and we do not treat continued scrolling as consent.

3. Strictly necessary storage

These are required for the website to function and are exempt from the consent requirement under PECR regulation 6(4). They cannot be switched off.

NameTypePurposeDuration
rv_consent_v1 localStorage (first party) Records the cookie choice you made so we do not ask again on every page. Stores only your choice and its timestamp. 12 months
rv_session Cookie (first party) Maintains a request session and protects the contact form against cross-site request forgery. Browser session

4. Optional analytics storage

Set only if you choose "Accept all".

NameTypePurposeDuration
rv_a Cookie (first party) Distinguishes one reader from another so visit counts are not inflated. Contains a random identifier, not your name or email. 13 months
rv_s Cookie (first party) Groups page views into a single reading session so we can see which reviews are read end to end. 30 minutes

Analytics data is aggregated. It is not used to build an advertising profile of you, it is not sold, and it is not shared with the operators we review.

5. Third-party content

We do not embed third-party advertising tags, social widgets, comment systems, video players or chat widgets on this website. The only external request the pages make is to Google Fonts for the typeface used throughout — which serves a font file and does not set a cookie.

Outbound links to gambling operators are ordinary links. Following one takes you to that operator's own website, where their cookie policy applies and where they may set their own cookies, including advertising cookies. We have no control over that and we recommend reading their policy before you register.

6. Changing your mind

Your consent is not permanent. You can revisit and change it at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page, which reopens the banner with both options available. Withdrawing consent stops any further optional storage; it does not retroactively delete aggregated data already collected, though you can request erasure under section 8 of our Privacy Policy.

7. Controlling cookies in your browser

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser. Doing so affects every website you visit, not just this one:

  • Chrome — Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies
  • Edge — Settings › Cookies and site permissions › Manage and delete cookies
  • Safari — Settings › Privacy › Manage Website Data
  • Firefox — Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data

Most browsers also offer a private or incognito mode that discards all storage when the window closes. Independent guidance is available from the ICO at ico.org.uk.

8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a rejection of optional storage and do not set analytics cookies, regardless of what the banner shows.

9. Changes to this policy

If we introduce new storage we will update the tables above and, where the change requires it, ask for your consent again. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version.
